Street wear fashion is not all about Supreme and Palace... it has started to branch into more high-end brands ever since Supreme's collaboration with Louis Vuitton last year.
On the subject of shoes and sneakers, Gucci and Balenciaga have become the two 'must have' shoes that go with certain fits (outfits) for people to wear. For people who use their expenses on clothing, they usually would prioritise shoes as it is said that shoes is the first item on an outfit people will look at.
The question to ask is, is spending £400-450 on sneakers worth it? What happens if they go out of fashion? There are three possible answers for this and it depends on what the buyers intentions are. For example, if someone is buying the shoe for the same purpose of buying the newest updated Apple iPhone, they are just following what other people are doing. Or, they could be buying it genuinely because they like the design, or because they are only interested in the brand name.
If reason one applies to you, then yes, you could be in fear of wasting money because each season, high-end brands release new clothing including new designs and colours, therefore if you are someone who wants the newest update of everything then buying these shoes are not worth it as they could go out of fashion.
However, if reason two applies then it will not be a waste of money because if you bought the shoes because of the design, the likelihood is that you know how to style the shoe. If you know how to style the shoe with what you wear, it would not be a waste of money as the shoe would benefit as a timeless addition to your aesthetic.
Lastly, if reason three applies to you, then you are fifty-fifty, if you choose the shoe because of the brand, it could go out of fashion for sometime, but like Burberry and other brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, the original and classic items always come back into fashion years or even decades after.
Overall, if you know how to style the shoe, the money you spent on it will be worth it.
